New Prototype Racing Sailboard
Bruce completed in October a new wave piercing Raceboard that did very well
in its first event and its first time on the water. It has a polystyrene foam core
laminated in Carbon. The thin bow knifes through the waves similar to modern
racing boats. Old style boards are pitched upwards and reduces there speed
due to there wide bows. The aim of this board is to be faster on all points of sailing.
Racing is the only way to see if we have achieved this with this board. Details and
pictures are on the main menu on the left.
 
Film Work; charter work ; environmental work
Charlestown watersports works with 'Square-sail', whose boat is pictured to your right.
Our boat, 'Ghostrider' is an 8.5m deep vee RIB with inboard 260 HP diesel, and makes
a very stable platform for the cameraman and film crew. There is not much weather
that this boat could not go out in. We have been used for filming the marine episodes
of 'The Beach' with Jason Donovan. "Three men in another boat" with Griff Rhys Jones
where we followed his boat from London Bridge to the Isle of Wight over 10 days. Also
'clash of the titans' in Tenerife, this was five weeks of intensive filming, with return trips
of up to 65 miles a day to the north of the island.
 
We are also chartered for photographic work and civil engineering companies for inspections.
